Dear Parents, Carers and Governors

We have seen some wonderful Christmas Concerts from the children over the last two weeks. It all began last Thursday with Nursery who looked splendid in their Christmas Jumpers, followed by Reception with their beautiful singing and retelling of the Nativity.
This week Key Stage 1 braved the snowy weather to tell us the Christmas Story from a school caretaker’s point of view and they sang and performed superbly, with some very talented budding actors in the midst. A special well done is deserved for the understudies who took some of the main roles for the first time that day.
Then we finished the concerts on Wednesday night with a double bill of Key Stage 2 who sang a mixture of beautiful Christmas songs that were both moving and entertaining.

Well done to the children who performed so well and thanks to all the staff who spent time supporting and preparing.

PTA Christmas Disco
Thank you to everyone who attended the PTA fund raiser last week. An amazing £1193 was raised. Thank you to the members of the PTA for organising the event.

PTA Gift Shop
This has been a successful event and I hope there is a surprise under your Christmas Tree! This was a ‘not for profit’ event but aimed at something special for the children to enjoy which I think most of them did. Many thanks to Kelly Hale and Sharon Taylor for the time it tool to organise, shop for and run.

Christmas Lunch
If your child has signed up for Christmas lunch then this will take place on Monday. Children who have not signed up must bring a packed lunch (including Reception and Key Stage 1 children).

Lunch on Tuesday will be a change from the published menu and will consist of either fish fingers and chips or sausage and chips.

Madley Brook vs The Blake
Our next match was against The Blake. It was an evenly fought match for the first 10 minutes but Madley Brook conceded 4 quick goals before half time. At half time, Madley Brook were reminded about persevering and staying positive. The team played much better in the second half and scored a well deserved goal through Aydin.
Final score 4-1

Madley Brook vs West Witney
Our next game was against West Witney. We started well and were very positive, however West Witney scored a good goal to lead 1-0 at half time. In the second half, we had a team talk and remained positive. We scored a well deserved goal by Jackson late on and almost won. Final score 1-1

Madley Brook vs Our Lady of Lourdes
On Thursday 30th November, we had our last league match and it was freezing! It started slow but positive and Madley Brook hit the woodwork multiple times. After 10 minutes, Aydin opened the scoring and then scored again 2 minutes later. Madley Brook scored a third just before half time when Ethan scored a rebound from Jackson’s shot. Our Lady of Lourdes fought back in the second half, keeping Madley Brook on their toes. Alex Westcott had to make a couple of great saves. Madley Brook counterattacked and scored a fourth through Jackson. Aydin rounded off his hat-trick with the last kick of the game.
Final score 5-0
Scorers – Aydin 3, Jackson 1 and Ethan 1
Report by Alex Westcott.

Madley Brook will face Witney CP in the semi final next term. Wish us luck!
