Dear Parents, Carers and Governors

Today sees the start of our consultation process to become part of a Multi Academy Trust (MAT). Accompanying the Newsletter is some information about the benefits of becoming part of a MAT, our preferred option and a response form for members of our school community to express their opinion. We hope that you will take some time to read the information and let us know your thoughts. We are also holding a meeting on Wednesday 8th February to give parents an opportunity to ask questions. The Chief Executive of the River Learning Trust, together with some governors, will be at the meeting to listen to your views and answer your questions. Please let us know if you plan to attend by returning the slip on the front of the accompanying letter.

School Review
Our School Review went really well this week. Thank you to the parents who spoke to our visitors and gave such positive feedback. We were very pleased with their findings:
• Good and often outstanding teaching;
• Teaching assistants are well deployed and help children to access good learning;
• Children have a good range and quantity of work in their books;
• Children are very polite, well-motivated and feel challenged in their learning;
• Children are very proud of their school and our Values are evident.
They have given us some useful advice on our areas for development and we are confident that we have the capacity to fulfil the objectives of our development plan. Overall it was a very useful exercise and one that will be repeated annually should we join a MAT.
Playing Fields Consultation Reminder
Three potential designs will be shown at a public consultation event on Saturday 28 January at Madley Park Hall. This will be a drop-in event, from 1.00-4.00pm. Children, young people and parents will have the opportunity to ‘vote’ for the equipment that they would like to see in the new park.
Your views are essential in helping to shape its future use, please come along and have your say!

School Kitchen
I am pleased to say that our school kitchen has received 5 out of 5 once again on the Food Standards Agency ‘Scores on the Door’. Congratulations to Karon and her team in the kitchen for a great result.

Scooters and Bikes
Please may I remind parents that children are not to use their bikes and scooters in the school grounds. This includes younger siblings too. Thank you for your cooperation.

National Number Day
Next Friday is National Number Day in aid of the NSPCC. Children may wear clothing with a number on it in return for a donation to the charity. Instead of the usual Tuck Shop we will be selling number cakes for 30pm each (no Tuck Shop Cards next week). During the day children will be exploring various problem solving activities linked to maths.

Sainsbury’s Vouchers
We are collecting Sainsbury’s vouchers once again and would be grateful if you could collect them at the store and send them into school.

Sliver Smarties
Please return the Smarties tubes to school next week by Tuesday at the latest. Many thanks for your support with this fund raiser.
