Our Current Value is: Equality
Dear Parents and Carers
Your child will have brought home their club confirmation slip yesterday. A couple of clubs were oversubscribed and where possible a waiting list set up. Please note from the slip where your child needs to be picked up from.
The PTA have launched a half term fundraiser in the form of the Silver Smarties. Many thanks to irepairtech for sponsoring this event. Participation is optional but we hope children will use the values they are learning to do some helpful task around the house for some extra cash.
Parent Teacher Consultations
Parent teacher meetings will be held in the week beginning 4th March. The appointments will go live on Tuesday 26th February on your Parent Mail account. Parents of children with special educational needs will need to ring the office on Monday 25th February to book a double appointment. Parents of children who do not live together and require two separate appointments should also ring on this day as the system will not allow more than one appointment to be booked for one child and we have to do this manually at our end.
Key Stage 1 Trip
A letter went out last week for the Cotswold Wildlife Park for a Key Stage 1 trip. Pleae return your slips in the week after the holidays.
World Book Day
World Book Day is on Thursday 7th March. We are not dressing up this year or having a themed day due to the science week we have planned in the week after half term but all children will receive their £1 voucher to put towards the purchase of a book. We would still like to foster a love of reading with children and hope they lose themselves in lots of exciting books over the holiday.
Governors’ Visiting Day
Tuesday was a Governors’ visiting day. This is when the board of governors see a real ‘day in the life’ of the school.
Each governor attended a variety of sessions, including morning assembly, specific meetings with staff – and of course a wide selection of lessons across the school.
It was a real pleasure to engage with the children and staff, who were all so welcoming and did so well – even in this last week before half-term! The experience has provided a wealth of new insight, understanding and context to help us with our governing role.
Ed Kay on behalf of the Governing Board
A massive thank you for everyone who joined in and made donations to the Barrow Corner top soil appeal. We have raised an amazing £550 which will enable us to fill four large raised beds! This is so exciting and means we should hopefully be growing vegetables this Spring. However, we still need to do some work to the site and plan to meet on Monday 18 February 9am to 11am and also 2nd and 3rd March from 10am. At each of these events children are welcome and you can enter the school through the KS1 gate. There will be free delicious bacon butties, vegetarian hot dogs and hot and cold refreshments available on the 2 & 3 of March. No experience is required just pop along to join in the fun on one of these dates and be part of this exciting project. Looking forward to seeing you!
In our efforts to encourage children to lead healthy lifestyles we would like to discourage confectionary type chocolate bars in children’s lunch boxes. Chocolate covered biscuits such as Kit Kat are occasionally acceptable but bars like Dairy Milk and Fredo are not. Thank you for your support with this.
We would like to extend our very best wishes to Miss Olivia Houliston who leaves us today to pursue a new career. We thank her for all the work she has done at our school and wish her the very best for the future.
