Dear Parents and Carers

After many months of negotiations with the Local Authority we are finally converting to an Academy and on the 1st April Madley Brook School will be part of The River Learning Trust. As a school we have been working with RLT over the last year on strategic planning and collaboration and we have already benefitted from their support. The Senior Leadership Team meet every three weeks or so with our Support and Challenge Partner where we discus teaching and learning and pupil outcomes. This has definitely been a good move for our school and we look forward to this now being official.

Just one initial change for parents – when you are writing cheques please now make them payable to:
River Learning Trust – MBP

Sports Relief
Thank you for your donations to the charity last week. The children were active during the week and we raised £311.83 between the 2 schools.

Lower Key Stage 2
Years 3 and 4 are going on a walk into Witney to look at architecture on the first Tuesday back (17th April). They will be leaving at 12pm and will be having a picnic whilst they are out. They will be back by 3pm. Children will therefore need a packed lunch that day; if your child is in receipt of free school meals and you would like the kitchen to prepare one please let us know on Monday 16th April first thing in the morning.

Administrative Assistant
I am pleased to say that we have appointed a new admin assistant for the office. Mrs Beth Smith will join us after Easter.

Well done to our Newspaper Team for producing this term’s edition. They have worked hard to gather information and write articles with the support of Mr Curtis. We hope you enjoy the read.

Bronze Barrow Barrowers
The Barrowers met on Friday 23 March and Saturday 24 March with fantastic support from Paula Downes, Helen Black, Jenny Woodford, Mike Edwards, Louise Kinchin and the Bronze Barrow Scout group. A huge thank you to you all for your help. The damaged lining of the old pond has now been taken up and the area just needs to be filled and levelled so that it can be turned into a fruit and vegetable garden. This is so exciting as the Bronze Barrow will soon have a dedicated area for growing plants and produce. However, to complete this quickly we are looking for donations of top soil, wood to make planters and professional expertise to cut down a tree. If you could help us in any way we would be very grateful. Please email the school
Our next working party is on Friday 20 April 8.40 to 10.15 or Saturday 21 April 10.15 to 12. Thank you for your support.

Thank you to Claire Smith and Mel Edwards who are driving this project with great enthusiasm and energy.
