Dear Parents, Carers and Governors,
It has been a day of jokes and laughter today at Madley Brook in aid of Comic Relief in a sea of red clothing, rather than blue. Here is a joke for you: What is a snake’s favourite lesson?
(The answer is at the end of this letter).
Roll up, roll up for the Circus!
It should be a super family evening’s entertainment on Thursday 22 June with the Circus at our school. Tickets are selling well, with less than a third left to buy. Please purchase your tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Forms are available from the school office.
Grendon Hall residential Years 3 and 4
A polite reminder that the total balance of £138 needs to be paid by the last day of term, Friday 7th April. If you are unsure how much you have left to pay, please ask at the school office.
Lower Key Stage 2 Egyptian Day
Just a reminder that Lower Key Stage 2 will be having an Egyptian day on Wednesday 5th April. Please remember to wear a costume for this.
Toy cars needed please
We have just purchased some play-tables for our playgrounds and are looking for any unwanted small toy vehicles to add to this please. All donations will be gratefully received.
Karen, our school cook, asks parents and carers of pupils in Reception and Key Stage 1 to check the school menu daily and discuss the meal options with children. There have been several incidences of pupils ordering one meal option and then declining it at lunchtime, saying that they do not like it. Whilst our lunchtime supervisors and kitchen staff do their very best to encourage reluctant eaters to have a try, some children do get very upset if they are given food they do not like.
Calling Year 6 Parents and Carers
There will be a meeting for parents and carers of pupils in our current Year 6 regarding the forthcoming SATs. It will be held in Mr McPherson’s classroom at 6.00pm next Tuesday 28th March. Please come along and find out more.
KS2 Gymnastics competition
Congratulations to all ten Key Stage 2 girls who represented Madley Brook in the West Oxfordshire Gymnastics competition in Carterton yesterday. By all accounts the standard set was very high, but our girls did us proud and were excellent participators demonstrating positive attitudes towards the whole event. Well done, girls!
Easter Egg Tombola
On Friday 7th April we will be having a non-uniform day in exchange for a chocolate Easter egg. Please bring your chocolate eggs into school that morning.
The Easter egg tombola will be held in the hall straight after school at 3.00 p.m. This is a very popular event so do come along and support it.
At the same time as the tombola, we will also be holding a second-hand school uniform sale. Please look through your cupboards and drawers for any uniform that has been outgrown and could be sold to help raise money for the school. Whilst we already have items of uniform available, any additional donations for the sale would be gratefully received.
