Dear Parents, Carers and Governors

Welcome back to a new term and a special warm welcome to all the new families who have joined us this term for the first time. This is a very short term, just 5 weeks, with Bank Holiday Monday next week.

We say farewell to Miss Emma Cuthbertson today who leaves for maternity leave. We wish her all the very best over the next few weeks and can’t wait to hear her news. We hope she manages a few weeks of rest before the baby arrives!

We welcome back Mrs Lindsay Wakeling from maternity leave who returned just before the Easter holidays and also Mrs Sue Garner who is joining us for the first time this week. Both will be teaching Elder Class for the Summer Term.

Achievements
Congratulations to Miss Pratley who completed the London Marathon on Sunday in just under 5 hours. An amazing achievement for her and for the organisation IMPS that she raised money for and which schools in our area benefit from.

Congratulations to our Netball Team who beat Tower Hill in a league match yesterday (20-10). They are now through to the league final. Well done to everyone who played.

Year Concert
The Year 5 concert with the Witney Partnership of Schools is taking place on Wednesday 17th May. A limited number of tickets are available from the school office. Please note all Year 5 children are expected to attend and represent our school.

School Council
School Council will be holding a sale after school on Tuesday 16th May outside the KS2 classrooms because they are trying to raise money to buy new resources, carpets, rugs and other soft furnishings for the Reading Sheds. They would like children to donate any unwanted books, games, toys, CD’s or DVD’s that can be sold.

They are also intending to decorate the sheds internally on Tuesday 23rd May. They have some paint that was kindly donated by parents but are in need of paint brushes, rollers and trays to actually do the work. If any carer/parent/grandparent can help in their mission to transform the sheds they would really appreciate their help.

Dental Survey
Our school has been selected to take part in a national dental survey for 5 year olds. Children who will be 5 at the time (May 23rd) have received a letter today asking parents for permission for their child to take part. Please return your forms to school next week.

School Lunch Menu
Food and More have announced that the next menu change will be in September and not in June. The current menu will run to the end of the summer term

#Madley20
Join in with the #Madley20 this Bank Holiday weekend (28th April-1st May) and make a difference to our community.
Take the challenge: spare just 20 minutes to tidy up Madley Park with your neighbours. If each of our 2500 residents spent just 20 minutes we’d see more than 800 hours of improvements to our estate! Get your neighbours involved and let’s see what a difference we can make.

You could spend the time clearing weeds from outside your house, reporting a broken bollard or street light to www.fixmystreet.com, cleaning your road name sign or joining us for the organised litter pick this Saturday (meeting on the square outside the Co-op at 10am).

Share your photos by adding the hashtag #Madley20 to tweets and Instagrams or posting to our Facebook page @MadleyParkResidents.
