Dear Parents, Carers and Governors
Years 5 and 6 have had some great author experiences this week. Year 6 enjoyed a trip to St Hugh’s College in Oxford to hear the author Jo Cotterill talk about her books and they also took in an exciting tour of the college and the grounds. “Wow – I want to come here” was a comment overheard from a child. What better inspiration?
Year 5 talked about wishes that can go wrong as a great stimulus for story writing with author Simon Cherry who was inspired to visit us following a letter from the Lunchboox club who have enjoyed one of his books. A great literary week enjoyed.
Year 5 Concert
Congratulations to all the Year 5 children who took part in the partnership concert on Wednesday night. They entertained us with some fabulous songs on the theme of space and represented our school so well and sang with gusto and enthusiasm. We are very proud of them.
School Council Sale
Thank you to those who supported our rather soggy School Council sale on Tuesday. The children raised £35 towards the reading sheds.
Break the Rules
There will be another Break the Rules day next Friday to raise funds for the PTA. Flyers have come home today for children to sign up and have a bit of fun during the day.

Wednesday 5th 9.30am Key Stage 1

We hope you be able to join us for these events.
Community Garage Sale: Sunday 16th July
There is just a week left to register as a seller for the Madley Park Garage Sale in July!
For sellers, it’s a simple way to sell your unwanted things, earn a few pennies and help out the community all at once! For buyers, enjoy a nice wander around Madley Park and grab some bargains!
Sellers: A £7 fee will enable your property to be featured on the map, which will be circulated to all residents with our summer newsletter, out in June. If you would be interested in selling, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org with your address by FRIDAY 26TH MAY.
We have an excellent range of clubs on offer for the last half term. Please note that the price of clubs has risen to £1.50 per week. If your child is allocated a club and no longer wants to take up the place, please do let us know as soon as possible so the club can be offered to someone else.
From time to time children have little accidents in school and it is necessary for them to change their clothing. We are running a little short of some items, particularly underwear, and would be grateful for any casts offs you can provide us, particularly for the youngest children. If your child comes home in some spare clothes we would appreciate it if you could wash and return them so we can reuse them. Spare PE kits would also be very useful, particularly for older pupils.
