Our Current Value is: Self Belief

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back to the final half term of the year. It promises to be a very busy and very exciting term for all.

Madley Park Activate

A huge thank you to all who gave so generously to ‘Activate:MadleyPark’ at the dress down day at the end of last term. You raised a whopping £460!  We are really close to our target and hope to be able to announce the date when work will commence on the much needed new play areas very soon. Hopefully it won’t be long before your children are able to enjoy them! Thank you again for your support!

PE Gold Mark

I am delighted to say that we have achieved the Gold Mark this year for our commitment to PE and Sport across the school. The introduction of a new PE curriculum this year has motivated children and staff even more and the wide range of sports clubs on offer have contributed to this. Thank you to all staff who have been involved in sport this year and for making a difference and to Mrs Robinson and Miss Fillary for their leadership.

Football

On Tuesday 4th June 2019, Madley Brook Girls’ football team played in a semi-final played against Our Lady of Lourdes. They scored a goal at the start of the match and sadly it stayed at 1-0 so Our Lady of Lourdes will go into the final. Our team was: Seray, Charlotte, Ruby H, Daisy, Emily, Erin, Eve and Millie.

Well done everyone for getting to the semi-finals.

Tennis

On Thursday Tallula Gray, Emily Yardley, Lily Reed, Leah Morcombe, Olly Lees, Ed Tolley, Harry How and Kamran George played in the West Oxfordshire Year 3/4 Tennis Finals. Everyone played very well and the team came 3rd place. All children showed great sportsmanship and had a great afternoon. Well done to all who took part.

Year 5 Hooded Sweatshirts

If you would like to order one of the sweatshirts for September, please send your order form and payment in by Friday 14th June

School Funding

I have attached a letter today from the Witney Partnership of Schools explaining some of the difficulties schools are facing in the current budget climate. Robert Courts our MP visited the school towards the end of last half term to hear about some of the challenges we are facing as a school and he has agreed to help support a campaign for better funding for schools in the future.  Our school is no exception and Governors have had to make some very difficult decisions of late when making cuts to our current provision.  Please have a read.

Classes for September

We have not yet set the makeup of classes for September but I now have a better idea of where teachers will be:

Nursery                                Mrs Kirsty Ellis

Reception           Mrs Lorraine Harris

Key Stage 1         Ms Ruth Evans

Mrs Jackie Tinsley (and Mrs Alice McPherson on her return from maternity leave)

Miss Zoe Watton

LKS2                       Mrs Wakeling and Miss Cuthbertson (until the end of Sept)

Miss Hope Edwards

ANO

UKS2                     Mrs Eleanor Robinson

Miss Sarah Filllary

ANO

You will notice that Mr McPherson is missing from the list! Mr McPherson is taking a year out to do a Master’s Degree. We are sorry to lose him, hopefully just on a temporary basis, but wish him all the very best with his studies as he returns to university.

We are currently recruiting for a temporary replacement for Mr McPherson and for Mr Curtis.
