Our Current Value is: Self Belief
Dear Parents and Carers
Last week Years 5 and 6 took part in various activities linked to our community. Mrs Hepworth came in to talk about Activate Madley and what we can do to support improvements to recreational areas; PCSOs Hilary and Lucy came into talk about road safety and showed us how to use SID (Speed Indication Device) to measure the speed cars travelled at and Year 6 visited the Madley park Care Home to share their books and sing. On Thursday, all of UKS2 went on a litter pick around the roads outside the school and picked up a whopping 1269 pieces of recyclable litter! We were joined by Duncan Enright, the Mayor of Witney, for part of it too. Finally, the Witney Food Bank paid us a visit to explain how and why it operates. We will be doing some follow up work with this for the rest of the term. This week, we have sent letters home to parents to further explain what we did. The teachers are very proud of all the children’s efforts and enthusiasm to supporting, learning about and looking to improve their community.
Kilvrough September 2019
There will be a meeting about the Year 6 residential trip on Monday 8th July at 6pm in the hall. Attached to today’s newsletter is the consent form and the order form for the hoodies. Please return to school by Friday 28th June.
If your child has represented our school this year, please can you return the Yellow T Shirts and football Kits. We have a number of items still outstanding.
This is a polite reminder that pupils (and adults!) should not be riding bicycles or scooters anywhere in the school grounds. You and your child must dismount at the school entrance and push bikes and scooters from there. Please also ensure that you keep to the pathway and do not walk across the school car park, where there might be minibuses and taxis trying to manoeuvre. It has been brought to our attention that there was a “near miss” this week with a young child cycling through the car park. Please be vigilant and keep your children safe.
Today we say goodbye and thank you to our student teachers who have been working across the school this term. We wish Grace Woodrush, Beth Davies and Tyley Deedigan the best of luck as they continue with their studies to become a teacher.
Please leave your bags of unwanted items outside the main entrance of the school first thing in the morning on Thursday next week.
