Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you very much for your feedback about school lunches. I will be meeting with the caterers next week to discuss your many concerns.

As an immediate action we are offering children a third option of a jacket potato on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Please note this is not on offer on Wednesdays due to the prep required for the roast dinner (which is our most popular day). Children may choose a filling of either cheese, tuna mayonnaise or baked beans.

Mosaic Artist
All children from Reception up to Year 6 worked with Becky Paton a mosaic artist on Thursday as part of the Witney Partnership of Schools art project to commemorate the centenary of World War 1. Becky asked all the children to design a scene a few weeks ago to represent their thoughts and feelings about World War 1 and she chose Sam Sissons in Willow Class’ striking poppy. Congratulations to Sam for his impressive design. All the children laid a few mosaics.

The final product will be on display at the Corn Exchange in November during the celebrations and it will eventually find its way back to school for permanent display.

Gardening
The Bronze Barrow vegetable garden project took a giant leap forward last weekend. Grateful thanks go to Witney Plant Hire for the loan of a mini-digger,
Aaron Tustin for operating the digger and clearing the area so well, MJ Landscapes (Matt Emery and Rosie Trinder) for their continued energetic and generous support and donating a wheelbarrow and children’s tools, Gemma Tustin, Helen Black, Jen Woodford, Paula Downes, Claire Smith and Trevor Smith for chopping , cutting and sawing along the way, Helen Black for arranging the digger loan.

The next working session will be this Saturday (23rd June) 10am until 12pm, meeting at the Key Stage 1 gate. Please come along and join in with this exciting project, even if just for half an hour. We have limited equipment, so if you have your own tools, please bring them. Children are welcome. Thank you for your support.

Reception Class Athletics
On Wednesday both Reception classes will attend the Witney Schools Partnership Early Years Athletics event at Wood Green School between 1.00 and 2.15 pm. Pupils must wear PE kit and trainers, and have warm clothing in case of poor weather and sun cream and hats for hot weather. Please ensure that your child has a water bottle in school on this day.
