Dear Parents and Carers
As the weather continues to bake, so does our field. There is not much left of our grass but I hope enough for our sports days next week. Please ensure that your child has a bottle of water in school every day, a hat and sun cream applied before school.
If anyone has a pop up gazebo that we could borrow on Tuesday that would be very helpful as the Key Stage 2 children sit around and wait for their races. If you are able to lend one please bring it to the field by 8.30am. Many thanks.
All children need a water bottle.
We will be holding parents races on Tuesday so don’t forget your trainers!
We had a visit from the librarian this week who told the children about the summer reading challenge at the library that begins this Saturday. I have attached a flyer with the details.
Please have a good look at home for any school library books. We are missing 60 books which is a considerable expense. Children have been sent individual letters if the computer is saying that you have a book we urge you to have a search at home.
The next meeting of the PTA will be 12th September not 17th July as previously advertised. All new members are welcome.
We are looking for more volunteers to join us in September. We need people for:
• Reading with children
• Administration of the reading diaries
• Library duties
• Swimming helper for Lower Key Stage 2 on Friday afternoons
All volunteers in school need to go through a DBS and reference check so if we can start that before the end of the summer it would be helpful. Please call for a form from the school office. We would love to hear from you.
Please note school clubs have now finished with the exception of cricket next Friday and Quidditch which has been swapped to Next Monday.
I would like to thank all the teachers and teaching assistants who have run clubs this year to give children experiences beyond the school day. More clubs was something that parents would like to see more of in school. We will do our best to provide what we can but we would also welcome any parents who have skills in specific areas to come and run clubs too. If you are interested in this please do get in touch.
If you have outstanding payments for dinner money please can you settle this before the end of the school year. Thank you.
It has come to our attention that a number of children are talking about a game called ‘Fortnite’ that they say they have been playing. I have attached some useful information about this game and the recommended age (12) due to its ‘mild violence’. I have attached for Key Stage 1 and 2 although the children talking about the game tend to be Key Stage 2 but I thought you would find it useful for future reference.
This month’s 100 Club was drawn in the presence of the After School Club.
Congratulations to the following winners:
1st Prize £50 Debra Mills
2nd Prize £30 Paula Downes
3rd Prize £20 Sharon Taylor
Thank you very much to the PTA for organising the 100 Club this year – it has been very successful.
