Dear Parents, Carers and Governors

Your child met their new teacher today (where possible) for a short amount of time and will be spending the morning with them on Monday when Year 6 visit their secondary schools. Classes for September are as follows:

Pine Year 5 Mrs Robinson
Willow Year 4 Mrs McPherson and ANO
Elder Year 3/4 Mrs Wakeling and Mrs Bishop
Oak Year 3 Miss Fillary
Beech Y1/2 Mr Curtis
Maple 1/2 Mrs Collins
Birch Y1/2 Ms Evans
Ash YR Mrs Ellis
Cherry YR Mrs Harris and Mrs Burnett
Seedlings Nursery Miss Watton

We welcome Mrs Clare Collins back after her long term absence. Both Miss Cuthbertson and Mrs Salmon will be on maternity leave. Mrs Salmon, when she returns, will be in Cheery Tree Class and Miss Cuthbertson into Lower Key Stage 2. Ms Mothersill is leaving us at the end of term and we wish her well for her position in a school in Oxford.

Sports Days
We have enjoyed our series of sports days and have been so lucky with the weather this year. Well done to all the children who took part with such a competitive spirit and enthusiasm. Our Year 5 pupils did an excellent job on Wednesday helping out at Key Stage 1.

Cricket Success
Our Girls’ Cricket Team came third overall in the county finals this week. Well done girls for representing the school and for getting so far in their competition.

Key Stage 2 SATs
We received our Key Stage 2 SATS results this week.
The percentage of children reaching the expected standard, compared to provisional national averages in brackets, is:

Reading 81% (71%)
Writing 79% (76%)
Maths 67% (75%)
SPaG 83% (77%)

Maths was a little lower than we had anticipated but we congratulate all the children for their efforts and hard work and for doing so well this year.

Year 6 Hoodies
Year 5 have been given their new hoodies ready for September and we ask that they don’t wear them until they return after the holidays.

I wondered if any parent or grandparent worked for Oxford University Press. If so please could they let us know as we could be entitled to discount on books.
Members of the PTA will be in the Nursery garden on Thursday at 3pm selling second hand uniform. There will be some good quality items on sale.
