Our Current Value is: Responsibility
Dear Parents and Carers
Librarians from Witney Library attended an assembly this week to tell the children about the summer reading challenge they have at libraries in Oxfordshire this year. It is based on the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. Many children seemed keen to get involved and they are able to bring their reading cards and medals in to school in September and show us what they have read.
Nursery Times on Friday
As we are finishing at 1pm next Friday nursery times are as follows:
Morning nursery 8:30am – 10:30am
Afternoon nursery 11am – 1pm
All day 8:30am – 1pm
Witney Carnival
Our Nursery staff and children are taking part in the Witney Carnival procession on Saturday. Look out for their brightly coloured costumes, flags and banners. Give them your support if you see them! Thank you to Mrs Hamblin for organising this for us as part of our nursery promotions.
Summer Fair
Our Summer Fair is taking place in the Yellow (Key Stage 1 and Early Years) Playground between 4.00pm and 6.00pm today. Please enter the school via the main entrance gates. We look forward to seeing you there.
Parent Questionnaire
Thank you to everyone who responded to our parent questionnaire. I have attached a summary of your responses for your information today. Your written comments will be considered by governors when they meet next week. Your responses were overwhelmingly positive and complimentary of our school and I thank you for taking the time to write.
100 Club
This month’s 100 Club was drawn in the presence of Miss Fillary.
Congratulations to the following winners:
1st Prize £51 Jean Clanfield 51
2nd Prize £31 Jane Honey 77
3rd Prize £21 Sean Brannan 14
Staff Changes
Sadly, Mrs Claire Smith will be leaving us next week as she and her husband are relocating to the West Country. Mrs Smith has worked at the school for eleven years. As a teaching assistant she has specialised in speech and language work and has made a difference to so many children. Mrs Smith has also been heavily involved in our outdoor area, giving so freely of her time to improve the sensory garden and pond area. She will be greatly missed by staff and children alike but we wish both her and her husband the best of luck as they move on.
I am pleased to say that we appointed a new teacher this week to work in Lower Key Stage 2. Miss Katy Wise is an experienced teacher and has been working locally. She will be the teacher in Willow Class in September and will be meeting the children next week.
