Our Current Value is: Caring
Dear Parents and Carers
Thank you for supporting our book fair a couple of weeks ago. The profits made mean that there is £100 a class to spend on new books as well as some shared resources such as new dictionaries. Every new penny helps. We will be running the book fair again in the spring to coincide with World Book Day.
A reminder that if you are paying in instalments for swimming that the second payment is now due. Thank you.
I am delighted to announce that we have two new governors. Ed Kay is our new parent governor and his son has just started in Reception. Alison Honeyford is our new Community Governor and comes with a background in IT. We are really pleased to be working with them and look forward to them joining our Governing Board.
Children In Need
Next Friday 16th November is Children in Need.
The school council have decided on some fundraising ideas that the children can take part in. Children may choose as many as they like to take part:
- Come to school in PJs, slippers and dressing gown- 50p
- Buy a cake-50p (this will be instead of tuck shop)
- Bring in coins to fill a playground drawing of Pudsey Bear (1p, 2p, 5p or 10p)
- Please note there will be no Tuck Shop next week and any children wishing to buy a cake will need cash as cards will not be used.
Coffee and Chat
Please remember our school nurse, Anita Pitcher, will be in the library during the morning of Monday 19th November. If you would like to discuss your concerns or ask advice about your child’s general health, sleep, behaviour, toileting or eating, please drop in any time between 10.00 a.m. and 11.00 a.m.
Hopefully by now you have received your printed Christmas Cards and gifts that the PTA have organised. I would like to extend a huge thank you to Lucy Day for taking this exercise on board and organising the whole of it with great efficiency.
You will have received our Growing Together leaflet which explains our plans for the vegetable garden. We wish to thank Paul Downes for designing and printing the leaflet free of charge.
We are also grateful if you have sent a donation or returned the slip at the bottom of the leaflet. If you have not completed and returned the slip it is not too late to offer your help by email: email@example.com
Our next working dates are Friday 16th November 8.40am to 10.30am and Sunday 25th November from 10am. It would be great to have some extra helping hands. Free bacon butties, tea, coffee and squash will be supplied on the 25th.
This is a reminder that in a bid to keep children fit and healthy, linked to our “Caring” value, we discourage children from bringing in chocolates or sweets in their lunch boxes. A chocolate biscuit such as a Club or Penguin is acceptable, but packs of Smarties or Haribos are not. We have noticed a few children with sweets in their lunchboxes in the past few days, but hope this is just a post-Hallowe’en blip! Thank you for your support with this.
If you wish to take advantage of the family photographs with younger or older siblings on 21st November please book an appointment with the school office. All children in school will be photographed with siblings attending school and as individuals. Children will also bring home a printed copy of the proof for you to order.
The AGM will be held at 7.30pm this Wednesday 14th November in the Studio – please enter via the playground door. I hope you will be able to join us to hear about all the good work the PTA have done this year to raise valuable funds for the school. Perhaps you would like to get involved this year and this is therefore a good opportunity to come and find out what it involves.
Next week is National Anti-Bullying week. Recently three children attended a county training day to become Anti-Bullying Ambassadors for our school – Edie May Dolan, Benji Craig and Alys O’Regan. They will be running a whole school assembly on Tuesday connected to this theme and will initiate some of the ideas they have brought back from their training.
This month’s 100 Club was drawn in the presence of the Admin Team.
