Dear Parents and Carers

As we reach the end of the first half term I reflect on the last eight weeks and how different and yet familiar our school has been. We have had to make changes, adapt our teaching to new measures and social distancing, find new ways of working, learning, playing and keeping our school safe. However, what hasn’t changed is the eagerness and engagement of your children for school, the laughter that has filled our classrooms and our playgrounds and the connection that we have all felt as we feel our way round these strange and sometimes challenging times. Madley Brook remains a very special place and I thank everyone who makes that possible.

Secondary School Applications
The deadline for secondary school applications is 31st October. Parents of children in Year 6 are advised to apply online now if they have not yet made an application as post at the county council is not checked on a daily basis and your application may not be opened before the deadline.

New Reception September 2021
We are unable to provide our usual tours of the school for prospective parents for Reception and Nursery. We are holding a few garden visits and details of these can be found on our website. We have also had a promotional video of the school made, the link for which is now on our website and social media. Do take a look even if you are not looking for a school place as you might see some familiar faces.

Individual Photographs
I have managed to secure a photographer to come and take some photographs in the week after half term. Sadly we can only do individual photographs and we will not be able to manage siblings. Photographs will take place on Wednesday 4th November and Thursday 5th November.

TTR-Key Stage 2
On Friday 6th November Key Stage 2 will be having a Times Table Rockstar day. The day will involve the children battling against each other and taking part in times table activities throughout the day. We will also be listening to a variety of rock music.

We ask that children dress up as Rock Stars for the day. So, come to school in your jeans, leather jackets, big hair and air guitars at the ready.

…….Rock out dudes!!

If you have not yet registered for the 100 Club please do. We are limited in the number of fundraising events we can organise this term and the much needed additional funding of the PTA is not there. Please try to support this if you can. Many thanks.

Staff Well Being
We have a wonderful well-being team at Madley Brook who look out for adults as well as children. This week they surprised us with some little gifts that cheered everyone up and brough a smile, and the odd tear, to everyone’s faces. Thank you to Jackie Tinsley, Alice McPherson, Keeley Knowles and Kirsty Ellis for their thoughtfulness, and to Carmen Green for supplying some lovely Body Shop gifts.

Mrs Lewis
We wish Mrs Jeanette Lewis all the very best as she leaves our school today. Thank you for all you have contributed to our school. We will certainly miss you.

Entry and Exit Times
I have tweaked the entry and exit times for after half term to bring them a bit closer together to make it easier (I hope) if you have more than one child to drop and pick up. The order is still the same, but hopefully not so much hanging about. Please read these carefully as they will take effect from Monday 2nd November.
