Dear Parents and Carers

Our entry and exit times are working smoothly and I thank you for your promptness.
I have noticed that there is some congestion outside the EYFS gates as it coincides with Springfield children arriving in the morning.
From next week we will operate a one way system around the car park. Parents dropping at the EYFS gates are asked to leave the premises across the car park (the way will be marked out) and you are asked to take extra caution whilst doing this as cars may be arriving and leaving. Please do not turn around and exit through the side gate even if it is quicker for you.

All parents are asked to continue to respect social distancing of at least 2m when waiting at the school gates.

Pupil Census Day and Free School Meals
Next Thursday, 1st October, is our school census day. For the benefit of parents new to our school, we receive a certain amount of funding each year to provide the free school meals for our Reception and Key Stage 1 children. An average is taken on our 3 census days over the course of the year and if the uptake is more that 87% then we receive additional funding. If it is below 87% we have money clawed back from our budget. School budgets are very tight at the moment and we are just about managing to break even. If we could have as many children opting for a free school meal (in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2) then we will receive badly needed additional funds for our school and can avoid a claw back. Unfortunately we cannot vary the menu this year to make it more attractive as we would normally do as we are still only offering packed lunches. However, I do hope you can encourage your child to try a school packed lunch that day if they are not regular partakers. Thank you in anticipation of your support.

We have ordered a new freezer and will be offering hot lunches as soon as this arrives and is up and running.

Wet Weather
As the winter approaches and the weather may change please could children have a spare pair of shoes or boots in school that they can use on the field at playtimes so that we can maximise the amount of outdoor space.
