Our New Value is: Honesty

Dear Parents and Carers

We launched our new Value of Honesty in assembly on Tuesday, having celebrated all of the work and activities children have completed around Caring across the school.  We will all be trying our best to own up to our mistakes and to tell the truth, knowing that honesty is the best policy.

 Admissions Consultation

We have amended our Admissions Policy due to changes proposed  by Oxfordshire County Council regarding  how distances are measured to the school.  We are also proposing reducing our published admissions number from 45 to 30 in September 2021, due to a decrease in the demand for places at our school.  The revised version of the policy can be found on our school website, and will be open to consultation until 16th January 2020.  If you have any comments you wish to make please address them to Mrs Katherine Spencer: head.2002@madley-brook.oxon.sch.uk

Are there any Scientists out there?

The Big Science Event is returning next year! This event has been running at Madley Brook for the last 8 years and involves all children from year 1-6. We are looking for any scientists or people with a scientific background who would be able to spare some time to be part of the inter-school judging panel. The date for judging will be on Friday 14th February. If you think you could spare some time to help, whether it be all day or part of the day, or you would like to find out more information, please talk to Mrs Wakeling.

Baby News

Warmest congratulations from us all to Mrs Isle and her husband who have announced that they are expecting their second child next May, a little brother or sister for Benji.

Would you or wooden you be able to help?!

In UKS2 next term we are going to be working on a DT project making Anglo Saxon houses where children will be developing their woodwork skills. To be able to do this project we require some thin wood that will be easy for the children to saw. If anyone knows of anywhere that we could get some at an affordable price, please could you get in contact with Miss Fillary, Mrs Robinson or Miss Gardner.

 On the ball, Madley!

The Madley Brook line-up against Our Lady of Lourdes was: Ned, Ethan, Finley, Matthew, James, Max and Cameron. The first goal went to Madley with an own goal. The second goal went to Cameron with a header (2-0 to Madley). Then Cameron scored 2 more goals assisted by Matthew and James. On the stroke of half time Ned made an amazing save – it was 4-0. The second half began and OLOL scored to make it 4-1. After a tense second half it ended up being 6-2 to Madley. We are through to the finals!!

Is your child sporty?

If your child plays in any sports fixtures representing our school, please can you ensure that the sports kit that they wear is washed and returned to school as soon as possible afterwards.

 After school clubs

Next week is the last week for all of our after school clubs this term except for Tennis, which finishes on Monday 16th December. You will receive notification of next term’s club availability next week.  Choir will not be on this list but please be assured that this will continue on Mondays from January in preparation for the February concert at the O2 in London.  Please note we will not be taking any new children into choir next term as places for the concert have already been booked and paid for.

 Head lice

We have had several cases of head lice across the school recently. Please remember to check your children’s hair regularly and treat as necessary.

Children can now post their Christmas cards to their friends around the school in our post box which is situated outside the library.  Please make sure they put their friends’ name and class on the envelope for ease of delivery.
